Birthday Vacation

I have the best husband in the world. My birthday was on July 23 and I turned 24.... man I feel old. I told my hubby that I wanted to go white water rafting for my birthday and he made it happen. We went to Jackson Hole and his cousin Andy was our guide. It ended up being Andy his wife Andrea and Nathan's family all floating the river.

The drive to Jackson Hole is so enjoyable. The road travels over hills and mountains covered in lush greens. It was a stark contrast against the bright blue afternoon sky. Floating along the river we saw about 6 bald eagles sitting high in the tree tops along the river bank. And a beaver building his home along the side of the rocks. I have only seen a bald eagle once or twice in a zoo but it was amazing to see them in their natural habitat. I was unable to get pictures of them because we couldn't bring cameras on the boat. Saturday evening after a short nap we walked around downtown Jackson and had dinner at the Silver Dollar Grill. It was a great historic restaurant, one of the first in the town. Sunday morning we woke up early and walked to breakfast at Jedediah's, home of delicious hand made sourdough pancakes. After breakfast we did some shopping and I visited my favorite shop, Moose Be Christmas. An amazing little shop full of amazing Christmas decorations. I love Christmas decorations, I wish I could keep them out year round. On our way home we stopped at the Idaho Falls Temple, walked around the temple, and took lots of pictures.

Wakeboarding

Saturday Nathan and I had the opportunity to go to Owyhee Lake and go boating and wakeboarding all day. We were invited by Darren, our horse shoer and his family and their brand new hurricane wakeboard boat. Nathan has never been out on the water except for his grandpa's little fishing boat. Wakeboarding is one of my all time favorite summer activities. There is nothing better than being on the water on a hot summer day.

I do give it to the man... he never gave up. The first thing Nathan tried was knee boarding just to get the feel of being pulled behind the boat. He tried about 10 times and wasn't able to get his knees pulled up onto the board. But he did get really good at just laying on the board and being pulled. After a short break he tried his hand at wakeboarding. After swallowing half the lake and pushing water like a pro it was time for another break. And then later he tried the air chair. Side note: Darren makes the air chair look super easy and is fabulous on it. He was getting at least ten to fifteen feet of air across the wake. So Nathan decided to give that a try and thirty tries later couldn't quite get the hang of it. I was then worrying that he was going to hate the water and I was never going to get him back on a boat.

After a little longer break, and watching everyone else go again on the wakeboard, he decided to give that one more shot. And he finally got it! I was so happy, he figured out how to get up like a pro and then just had to figure out the steering and balance. He said he had a good time and would do it again. Phew!!

Here are some pictures of Nathan and all his attempts and Darren on the air chair. There aren't any of me because I guess no one else knows how to use a camera. But I was figuring out how to get air over the wake. It was a very good wakeboarding day for me.

Williams Family Reunion

This weekend was the William J Williams family reunion. It is Nathan's mothers side of the family. They had the reunion at a park in Malad and the campers filled the place. We got there really late on thursday and the reunion started late afternoon friday. Saturday was filled with lots of good food, tennis playing, decorating t-shirts, and singing by the campfire.

I think Brady was the most excited for all the food.

For those with bad eyes... my shirt says my name and then "I'm with stupid" and Nathan's says "I love my wife" that's what he gets for letting me decorate it for him.

Thank You Layne

Layne Street is a guilty pleasure of mine. (Laynestreet.blogspot.com) she always has random and funny and insightful stories and I get kicks out of reading them. She tagged me to answer ten random things about myself.

So here it goes...

1. I am really picky about food; for example, the ice cream was in the freezer to long and started to get little frozen crystals on it. I could no longer eat it, it tasted funky. Also when Nathan leaves the cereal bag open and he doesn't crupple it down nice and tight the cereal is bad and stale, even if it's left out for a few hours or overnight.
2. I love foam soap and it brightens my day when you randomly use a public bathroom and they stock foam soap.
3. I organize my dvd's and cd's first by genre then alphabetically
4. I really really really want a new horse; a bigger, badder, and better one.
5. I hate the kiosk people in the mall and have no problem telling them to go away!
6. I love what I do
7. Morbid Obesity is something I have ZERO tolerance for. And even less tolerance for the inablers.
8. I am trying to be an all around better person, sometimes I succeed with this and sometimes I fail
9. Snowboarding and wakeboarding are two sports that I love and wish I could do more often
10. I love being complete retards with Nathan

Now I am supposed to call out some folks to do the same!!

1.The Morris Family
2. The Guglemans
3. The Masons
4. Nate & Lindsey Palmer

Enjoy!!

Weddings!!

On June 13, 2009 one of my very dear friends Ashley got married to an amazing man. They are the perfect couple and I couldn't be happier for her. They are now Lt. and Mrs. Christopher Chavez. I got to be one of the bridesmaids. Chris just graduated from West Point so they had a military wedding with the swords arched when they walked out and everything. I drove out to Sacramento a week early because I still did not have my bridesmaid dress and when they were ordered the sized were really goofy. The bridal shop was telling girls they were about two sizes bigger than they actually were. So I ordered my dress and then had no idea if it was going to fit and was on a very short time crunch for getting any alterations. Luckily, it fit and I was able to spend lots of time with my family and friends. One day my dad and I went to the Red Hawk Casino, which is an Indian Casino in Placerville. We mostly played penny machines and would venture around to some others but I ended up walking away with $200 that I won on the penny slots. That's a whole lot of pennies. It was so much fun! Here are some pictures from the wedding...

Still Alive?!!

Wow!! No we are not dead we have just been without internet for the past five months. I used to post to this blog while I was at school but since I don't have to go there anymore I haven't been able to actually post anything... on a consistent basis.

In recent news Nathan and I have moved from the middle of nowhere Glenns Ferry, Idaho to Kuna, Idaho. It's about twenty minutes from downtown Boise, which makes me do this :)!!! Nathan got an incredible job opportunity to be the head trainer at the Lucky Run Arena. It is the same facility that he trained at before making the switch to Annie Reynolds in Glenns Ferry. The difference is before he was the low man on the totem pole and now he is calling the shots. This is the perfect next step for him in his career and we couldn't be happier. We were given a house on the property to live in which is a major upgrade, to say the least, from our house before. It has three great rooms, a giant kitchen, pantry, laundry room, four bedrooms, and two and a half baths. It is about a year old so everything in it is still very new. And did I mention the best part...... It's freEEEEEE!!!

So with this move I will be able to actually post to this more often and on a more consistent basis. I can't garauntee how exciting it's going to be considering most of our lives revolve around horses but I will try and make it more interesting for the non horse people. Also, I will be posting pictures of the new place shortly!

Way Overdue

In defense of me being a horrible blogger we do not have internet in the middle of no where Glenns Ferry so I don't get to do much blogging. I used to while I was at school and then my computer was getting fixed for about two weeks.

Last month we spent two weeks in Scottsdale, Arizona for the Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. An extremely big show about the size of Nationals. Nathan showed Top Gun in the Purebred Reining Futurity and Bunny in the Half Arab Reining Bitted. Preston, Nate's brother, went down with his half arabian reiner, SH Docs Buckaroo, and showed in the Half Arab Reining Futurity. We could not have asked for better weather. I got a great tan!
